Who we are

Ping News CIC runs this website and is the data controller for any personal data it handles. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 13649166, at Underfall Yard, Cumberland Road, Bristol, BS1 6XG.

What this site collects

There are no forms on this site. If you contact us you do so by email, using your own email program, and nothing about that passes through this website.

We do use Google Analytics to count visits, so we can see which pages are read and roughly where readers come from. It records things like the pages you view, how long you stay, your approximate location from your IP address, and the kind of device and browser you are using. We cannot see who you are from it, and we do not try to.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser so it can tell a returning visit from a new one. They hold a randomly generated identifier, not your name or anything you have typed.

If you would rather not be counted, you can block cookies for this site in your browser, use private browsing, or install Google’s opt-out add-on. The site works exactly the same either way.

What reaches a third party

Our fonts are served by Google Fonts, so your browser connects to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, and Google receives your IP address and basic browser information. That happens on every site using Google Fonts and we cannot see any of it.

Google Analytics receives the visit data described above. Both are covered by Google’s privacy policy.

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes requests on our behalf and keeps short-lived technical logs for security and reliability.

If you email us

When you write to us we hold your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you choose to put in the message. We use it to answer you and to carry on the conversation.

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: you have written to us and expect a reply. Where the conversation is about working together, the basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract.

We keep correspondence while the matter is live and for up to two years afterwards, so we have a record of what was agreed, then delete it. We do not add you to any mailing list and we do not share your details with anyone else.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

• Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and tell you what we do with it
• Correct it if it is wrong or incomplete
• Delete it, where there is no good reason for us to keep it
• Restrict what we do with it while a question about it is resolved
• Object to us using it, including any use based on legitimate interests
• Send it to you or someone else in a portable form, where that right applies
• Withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on consent

We respond within one month and there is no charge. If a request is repetitive or clearly excessive we may charge a reasonable fee or decline, and if we do we will tell you why and how to challenge it. We will check who you are before releasing anything.

We do not make any automated decisions about you and we do not profile anyone.

Where your data is held

Our email runs on Google Workspace. Google and Cloudflare both operate outside the UK, and transfers are covered by the safeguards those providers have in place, including the UK international data transfer addendum.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, tell us first at hello@pingnews.uk and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at any time.

Changes to this notice

We update this page when the site or the law changes. It is written to meet the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
